Nail Care Tips
How To Apply Your Press-On Nails
For best results, always wash your hands before following these steps!
-
Push Back Cuticles
- Use the pink pusher provided in your prep kit to gently push back your cuticles. This helps create extra space on your nail bed for a perfect fit.
-
Buff Your Nails
- Buffing is key for long-lasting press-on nails. Take the buffing tool or mini file and gently rough up the surface of your natural nails. This gives the nail glue and press-on nails something solid to bond to, ensuring a stronger hold.
-
Dehydrate Your Nails
- Use the alcohol pads provided in your prep kit to wipe your nails and remove oils. Dehydrating your nails ensures that the press-on nails have a pristine surface to bond to for longer wear.
-
Size the Press-On Nails
- Choose the press-on nail that best fits your natural nail bed. Once sized, apply glue to your natural nail, then carefully set the press-on nail starting at the back of the nail bed, right above the cuticle. Make sure the nail is straight and aligned.
-
Apply Pressure
- Press the press-on nail all the way flat against your natural nail. Hold it in place for 30 seconds to ensure a secure bond.
-
Always Oil Your Cuticles
- After applying your press-on nails, always finish by applying cuticle oil to your nails and cuticles. This keeps the surrounding skin moisturized and healthy.
Tip: For extended wear (lasting 2-3 weeks), apply glue to both your natural nail and the press-on nail.
How To Remove Your Press-On Nails
Note: The removal process takes time and patience. Rushing it could potentially damage your natural nails. Always be gentle!
-
Soak Your Nails
- Mix warm water with a few drops of dish soap and cuticle oil in a small bowl. Soak your nails for 10 minutes to loosen the adhesive.
-
Gently Rock Your Nails
- While soaking, gently rock your nails back and forth to help the water loosen the adhesive.
-
Test the Removal
- After 10 minutes, check if the press-on nails will lift. If they don't, add a few drops of cuticle oil under the press-on nails and soak for a few more minutes.
-
Use Cuticle Oil
- Apply a few drops of cuticle oil to the area just underneath your press-on nails and let them sit for a few minutes. This softens the adhesive for an easier removal process.
-
Remove Carefully
- Once the nails are loose enough, use a cuticle pusher to gently work underneath the press-on nail. Slowly and gently rock the pusher back and forth to remove the nail. This should not be painful!
-
Always Oil Your Cuticles
- After removing your press-on nails, apply cuticle oil to your nails and cuticles to keep them hydrated and healthy. Regular oiling helps prevent dryness or irritation.
-
Buff Off Excess Adhesive
- After removal, buff off any remaining adhesive from your nails. If needed, soak in warm water again or apply nail polish remover to help dissolve the glue.
